TWELVE

HARLEY

How would you feel if I told you I had a direct shot at your boyfriend’s skull? Does that change your mind?

My brother’s words kept rattling around in my head. The fact that I’d had to play along and hold a gun to his head had been enough for one day. But when that idiot told me he had a clear shot of Goose’s body? That he’d down the man in a heartbeat if I didn’t put my gun away? I didn’t hesitate in order to keep Goose safe.

But when Bullet attempted to train his gun onto me? He looked like he was ready to shoot.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” I whispered to myself.

I must’ve been so deep into my head with everything that had happened that I hadn’t realized how quickly we had booked it back to the clubhouse. But when I finally came to, all eyes were on me as Goose shoved me down onto the couch in their living room.

Like I was a piece of trash to him.

“What the fuck?” I asked as I looked up at him with wild eyes.

He sat down on top of the coffee table in front of me. “So, when were you going to tell us that you were Bullet’s sister?”

I shook my head. “I-I didn’t think it mattered.”

Bender growled behind me. “Jesus Christ, you were right, Goose.”

Goose glared at me as I sat there, helpless and confused as to what had happened. “I’m always right.”

I tilted my head off to the side. “You think I had something to do with this, don’t you?”

“Of course, you had something to do with it!” Fangs exclaimed.

“I say we toss her to the wolves,” Reaper said harshly.

“She’s already proven that she can’t be trusted,” Viper said.

I shot him a look. “Had I not told you about the ambush in the first place, all of you would’ve died today. Every single one of you.”

“Well, if you hate your brother so much,” Fangs said as he dipped down beside me, his head hovering over my shoulder, “then why didn’t you shoot your disgusting excuse for a brother whenever you had the chance?”

I shrugged, trying not to let them get to me. I had been intimidated by enough men in my life. “Could you shoot one of your men if they hurt you?”

And when Fangs didn’t answer, Goose took the reins once more. “What did he say to you?”

My gaze came back to his. “What?”

“To get you to lower your gun,” he said as he nodded to my hip, “what did he say to you?”

My face paled as I recalled the conversation with my brother. “Just that he’d start plucking you guys off one by one if I didn’t—”

Something rang aloud in the living room and the instant I heard the ringtone, I froze. I knew who was calling. I knew who was on the other end of that line. And when I caught a glimpse of Bullet’s name before I answered the call, I immediately put the damn thing on speakerphone.
